There are 15 blocks or pictures in this set, and I have made a single bed quilt that
is 3 x 5 blocks. You are not limited to making a quilt, you are only limited by your imagination with these designs! Each design is broken up into segments that make the final picture.  Most of these individual segments can be used as single smaller designs, and arranged to create different pictures and designs. Each of the blocks pictured below measures approximately 15 inches square.

These designs are in JEF format only, and require use of both hoop A(4 x 4) and
hoop B(5 x7).
I have test stitched these designs in the JEF format and know they will stitch out well, however I cannot guarantee stitch out quality if these designs are altered in any way.

As some of these designs are made up of several smaller segments, a cloth-setter is essential for accurate placement.

The CD includes detailed instructions in Microsoft Word and Adobe format.

Please note that these designs are a set and are not available as single designs.

I was inspired by the works of Mary Simon, a German who arrived in Baltimore around 1844, and by the Commemorative Baltimore Quilt c.1850. Mary Simon used a layering appliqué technique, and  the blocks were all sewn by hand. I also use a layering technique, but mine are digitized and sewn by machine- ahh, the wonders of modern technology! From around 1846 to 1852, quilters used mostly floral motifs, as well as birds, animals and people. Cornucopias, Bibles, Sailing ships and landmark buildings were also popular. Certain blocks were very distinctive, and still influence designs done today.

A picture of this quilt in total, can be seen on the projects page
